Aids - To comunicate with your horse as a rider you'll need to use signals in some way, these signals are called aids. One can divide different types of aids into two main categories, artificial and natural. Artificial aids uses whips and other tools to give the horse the signal you want to communicate, while natural aids consist of your voice or legs.
Bale - A large bundle of hay
Bars - The area in a horses mouth where there are no teeth, this is the place you would rest the bit when riding.
Bit - A type of horse tack usually made of metal which you would put on the bars in a horses mouth. This one is also connected to a bridle and the bridle has reins attached for the rider to communicate with the horse when riding.
Bridle - The bridle is used to direct a horse when riding, it usually has reins attached for the rider.
Broodmare - A broodmare is a female horse used only for breeding.
Bucking - When a horse is bucking, it lowers the head and curves its back and creates a half circle shape, if the horse does too aggressive bucking moves the rider will probably fall off. Bucking is a very common movement in bull competitions where the winner is the person who can stay longest on the bulls back without falling off.
Colt - A male horse under the age of four.
Dam - The foal's mother.
Dapple - Dapples are a kind of marking on a horse body. Imagine a white horse with a lot of dark rings of hair. The rings are usually grey but there are also a few brown colored dapples.
